About Cardiac Scoring
What is CT – Cardiac Scoring?
A cardiac CT scan is a non-invasive, screening exam used to obtain information about the presence, location and/or amount of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. An increased amount of calcified plaque can signify the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD).
The results of this exam can help your clinician determine if you may be at an increased risk for a heart attack. The findings on a CT for cardiac scoring are expressed as a calcium score. This exam is sometimes referred to as coronary artery calcium scoring.
Where is CT – Cardiac Scoring offered?
