If a mammogram
shows a possible abnormal area, you may be asked
to schedule an appointment for additional views or
a breast ultrasound. If the finding can be seen with
ultrasound, an ultrasound percutaneous needle biopsy
may be performed. This is a quick procedure that
involves only minor momentary discomfort. The biopsy
usually can help to determind whether the finding
is benign or malignant. If it is malignant, you will
be referred to a breast surgeon. |
