Radiologic Technologists – Who They Are and What They Do

When you need a radiologic test or treatment, you may wonder about the training and credentials of the technologists performing these services. For something as important as a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, you want to know the personnel caring for you are qualified, appropriately trained and mindful of your health, comfort and well-being.

RAO’s team of radiologic technologists is exceptionally trained and experienced in an array of diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic radiation treatments. Each technologist possesses at least two to four years of fundamental education in anatomy, equipment use, patient positioning and comfort, safety protocols and other areas of study, and has passed a national exam certifying his or her qualifications. All undergo ongoing education in each of the services they perform to ensure the highest degree of quality, accuracy and safety. Members of our radiologic technology team specialize in an array of imaging tests, including 3-D mammography™ exams, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), fluoroscopy (x-ray), nuclear medicine, DEXA bone density testing and much more. Certain technologists have undergone advanced training in radiation therapy to treat cancer and other ailments. They, like our entire technology team, work directly with our Board Certified radiologists, who use the images captured by our technologists to diagnose or negate the presence of disease and injury, and to perform non- and minimally-invasive medical procedures.

The technologists at RAO’s Center for Vascular Health are specially trained to implement interventional tests and therapies, including image-guided placement of catheters, stents, vena cava filters and other medical devices, arterial evaluations using computed tomography angiogram and other important services.

Each RAO and CVH technologist is carefully educated, trained and experienced in his or her specific diagnostic and interventional services, so from mammography, CT, MRI and ultrasound to DEXA, radiation therapy and nuclear medicine, you can feel secure about your procedure and know you’ll be treated with the utmost care, respect and commitment to quality.
