If you’re one of the many Americans whose healthcare requires a chest port insertion, you may be interested to know that a recent medical study shows that a chest port insertion can be done just as safely and effectively by an interventional radiologist as by a surgeon in an operating room, and in less time and at a significantly reduced cost.
The retrospective study showed that the overall cost of having a chest port placement performed in an interventional radiology suite was roughly 1/3 the price of having it in an operating room setting, and that the average procedure time was reduced from 69 minutes down to 37 minutes.
